As in previous editions, in parallel with the courses, you can register for the open workshop in violin making or bow making. A unique opportunity to experiment with new practices with your colleagues, to have a quiet session outside your workshop, take advantage of this time to work on joint projects.

You stay for a minimum of 3 days and up to 14 days.

LUTHERIE WORKSHOP:

11 to 19 May: you can come and work freely for 3 days minimum to develop a community project or work on your own making in good company.

20 to 24 May: this year we are continuing with the second phase of the GUARNERI DEL GESÙ MAURY – EBERSOLT violin project, which began at the Campus last year. The twenty or so luthiers involved in the project will be present to compare their violins with the original. (note that these days are accessible only for the luthiers involved in the project)

BOW MAKING WORKSHOP

From 11 to 24 May: Alongside the restoration of the Guarneri del Gesù violin from Villefavard, formerly owned by Menuhin, we plan to focus this year on the bows that accompanied this instrument.
These were a bow by François Xavier Tourte (presented to Yehudi Menuhin upon the purchase of the violin in 1972) and a fine bow by François Nicolas Voirin, two iconic figures in the history of French bow-making. We will gather together a selection of fine examples of these bow-makers’ tools on site to study their characteristics and style as a group, take measurements and make casts of them, and produce copies or reconstructions, either collectively or individually.
